At MiraEso we believe your data is yours. We keep the minimum needed to run the marketplace, we do not sell or share your personal information, and we give you clear controls over what's visible and what gets personalized. This notice explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and how to exercise your rights — wherever you are.
Account: a display name and an email address to sign in (we use one-time sign-in links — we store no passwords). When you register you confirm you are 18+, and we store only the date of that confirmation, never your date of birth.
Phone: optional. If you add it, it's only used so a signed-in buyer can reach you by WhatsApp or call, and only if you turn that channel on. It never appears in the listing and is never visible to anonymous visitors.
Listings and messages: the content you post (photos, text, price, province/area) and the messages you send in chat. You choose whether to hide a listing's exact location; if you do, the map shows an approximate area and the precise coordinates never leave our servers.
Activity inside MiraEso: what you view, search and save — for signed-in users only — to personalize the "For you" feed. You can turn this off anytime in Settings. We do not record IP addresses, device fingerprints, or precise location.
We do not sell or share (in the California-law sense) your personal information with anyone for advertising. There are no third-party pixels, no ad networks, and no cross-site tracking. Because we don't sell or share, there's nothing you need to "opt out" of — but we still honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal if your browser sends one.
We don't ask for or store your national ID/passport, card details, or date of birth. We don't use your data for automated decisions with legal effects.
We use only functional, strictly necessary cookies: one to remember your language and a session cookie to keep you signed in. If you dismiss the privacy notice, we store a small flag so we don't show it again. We also keep a little information in your browser's local storage: the favorites you mark before signing in (so you don't lose them) and whether you dismissed the "install the app" prompt. If you turn on push notifications, your browser creates a subscription that we store so we can send them. None of this is advertising or tracking, which is why you don't see a consent wall. To run the marketplace (post, search, chat, bid), personalize your feed from your in-MiraEso activity, send you transactional and notification emails — and push notifications if you turn them on — that you control, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law. Our emails never ask for passwords or payment, and every one includes an unsubscribe link.
You're in control. From your account you can: view and correct your profile, use a public username (pseudonym) instead of your real name, choose which contact channels show, download all your data (portability), turn off activity personalization, keep your profile out of search engines, block users, and request account deletion.
For any request you can't complete yourself — or to withdraw consent, object to a use, or make a complaint — contact us and we respond within the timelines your jurisdiction requires. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Sign-in links: 15 minutes (deleted on use or expiry). Sessions: 30 days. Activity history: 90 days. Your account and content are kept while the account exists. When we process your deletion, we anonymize your profile and erase your activity history, saved searches, favorites and bids; your message and review text is removed, keeping the minimum for the other party to retain a coherent history.
MiraEso is served from a global edge network (Cloudflare) to be fast across Panama, Canada and the United States. This may involve processing data on servers outside your country. We apply the same protections described here wherever your data is processed.
Browsing is open, but creating an account, posting, chatting or bidding requires being 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
We apply the strongest of these to everyone, but here are the specifics for our main audiences.
We process your data with your consent and only for the purposes described. You have the right to access your information, correct it, withdraw consent, and complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC) or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information (CAI). We don't use your data for automated decisions with significant effects. You can reach our privacy officer at the email below.
We collect identifiers (name, email, optional phone), content you post, and in-site activity, as described above. You have the right to know, access, correct and delete, and not to be discriminated against for exercising them. We do not sell or share personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no "Do Not Sell or Share" mechanism because there is nothing to opt out of; we still honor the GPC signal. An authorized agent may submit requests on your behalf with verification.
You exercise your ARCO+P rights — access, rectification, cancellation (deletion), opposition and portability — from your account or by contacting us. You also have the habeas data right and may file complaints with the National Authority for Transparency and Access to Information (ANTAI). We process your data with your consent and the security measures described.
